CONTACT: Blair Moody recognized by peer professionals in the Society of American Foresters. Coos Bay, Oregon, April 26, 2006 (the day and location of the award banquet) Blair Moody has been elected by his forestry professional colleagues in the Society of American Foresters (SAF) to the status of Fellow. The status of Fellow is only given to a very small group of professional foresters within SAF. Fellows can only be nominated for election for rendering outstanding service to forestry and to SAF. Blair received this honor in the fall of 2005 for his strong continuing commitment through direct SAF volunteer activities and his exemplary action, sustained leadership and advancement of the forestry profession at the local regional and national level. Blair will receive his official Fellow award at the annual Oregon Society of American Foresters meeting in Coos Bay on April 26. SAF represents over 15,000 forestry professionals working in universities, local, state and federal government, private industry and as consultants. SAF members are leaders in providing credible science and professional management of forest resources, conducting targeted research, and creating relevant policies to ensure our forests are growing better all the time. Blair currently works for the Bureau of Land Management in Medford, Oregon as a forester working with small diameter trees and the development of biomass programs. Blair has been a member of SAF since 1976 and has served in many positions including the Oregon State Chair. Blair also spent many years in private industry giving him a unique breadth of experience. Blair graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management in 1975 and obtained one of the first Certified Forester accreditations with SAF in 1995.
