Ed Shepard is the BLM State Director for the agency’s state office for Oregon and Washington.

Shepard has 32 years of experience with the BLM. Prior to being named assistant director, he served as Oregon and Washington BLM Deputy State Director for Resource Planning, Use, and Protection; Deputy Director of the Office of Fire and Aviation at the National Interagency Fire Center; District Manager, Coos Bay, Oregon District; Chief of the Division of Forestry in the Washington Office; Area Manager in the Roseburg, Oregon District Office; Area Silviculturist in the Medford, Oregon District Office; and Area.

Shepard holds a M.S. in Forest Management from Washington State University, and a B.S. in Range and Forest Management from Colorado State University. He is also a Certified Forester and a Fellow with the Society of American Foresters, and has held several elected and appointed offices and committee assignments with SAF.

Russ Hoeflich is Vice President and Oregon Director of the Nature Conservancy

Within The Conservancy, Russ serves as a member of The Global Human Resources Cabinet and the lead sponsor of the Volunteerism Cabinet.  Additionally, Russ serves on The World Forestry Center Board of Directors and is a member of the American Leadership Forum. He also serves on two government task forces: Oregon Board of Forestry-Federal Forestland Workgroup and Oregon Department of Forestry/Oregon Department of Energy Forest Biomass Workgroup; additionally, he serves on Oregon Business Council Forest Health Workgroup.

Oregon Nature Conservancy Director Russ Hoeflich makes a strong case for stepping up the pace of fuel treatments in Oregon's federal forests, where 11.3 million acres of land outside Wilderness and roadless areas are in fire regime condition classes 2 and 3. The bottom line is that federal agencies need to increase treatments three to five times above current levels.
