"Equipment Maintenance in a Tier IV Emissions Environment"

This seminar will cover the Federal Tier level emission regulations brief history of Tier level 1 through 4.  Explanation of changes to engine systems and how these will effect operation and maintenance.  The following areas will be addressed: Fuel, Lubrication, Cooling , Intake/Exhaust , and electrical.

The Current trends in original equipment manufacturer fluid specifications as it relates to the following areas: Viscosity, first consideration of fluid selection, AP, /MIL/OEM Fluid specification, Fuel - Diesel, ULSD off road, Coolant, and Fluid Cleanliness.

Jim Carter began working on heavy equipment in 1960 as an apprentice mechanic for Papé Bros., Inc.  Jim became a field technician in 1963, moving up to shop supervisor, and in 1969 Carter was promoted to service manager.  In 1985, he took the position of New Products Engineer and managed Papé's Technical Center.  Currently, Carter focuses his efforts on failure analysis, technician training, Dealer Advocate Groups (DAG), and staying current with emerging technologies.

Rob Topel, New Product Engineer for Papé Machinery, has 21 years of experience in the logging industry.  In 1988, Topel started his career with Morbark Northwest as a field technician servicing chippers and Timbco feller bunchers.  After PBI Machinery acquired Morbark Northwest, Topel was promoted to Shop Manager and eventually to New Product Engineer for Papé's Technical Center.  Topel is factory certified on engines, electrical and electronic components, and hydraulics.  With all of his experience, Topel mainly focuses on diagnostic and certification training for Papé Machinery's technicians at all 22 locations.
