"Safe Forestry"
Eric Daws is the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator at Peterson Machinery Co. Eric joined Peterson 2½ years ago, after spending twenty years as principal of a worker-owned bicycle manufacturing company in Eugene, OR. Eric boasts over 25 years of safety and human resources experience, and has lived in Oregon since 1976.
Eric is excited to offer his presentation, Safe Forestry, to attendees of the 2010 Oregon Logging Conference. "I'm looking forward to this opportunity to present practical safety tips for loggers. I've learned a lot about forestry's particular safety concerns, and am glad for the chance to help people in this vital industry take care of themselves."
In his free time, Eric is an artist and musician, and has exhibited his work in numerous venues throughout the Northwest. Eric also enjoys collecting and sharing wacky and unusual safety photos and videos, and has prepared CDs of his collection to offer as door prizes to attendees of his presentation.
Mike Coiner is the Forest Products Business Facilitator at Peterson Machinery Co. Mike grew up around logging products and has operated his own forestry business. He serves as the primary link between Caterpillar and Peterson for sales and product support of Cat Forest Products, and has worked with Caterpillar equipment for 32 years.
Mike is excited to present Safe Forestry to OLC attendees: "Presenting at the 2010 Oregon Logging Conference is a great opportunity for me to share some of the safety tips I've picked up during my career in the logging industry. I look forward to the chance to meet other industry veterans, as well as newcomers to forestry."
When he isn't working, Mike enjoys seeing the outdoors on utility quads, which he equips with snow tracks in the winter, and spending time with his wife and three childre
